Beetroot and potato puree for babies is a perfect puree for a baby as young as 6 months old. Beetroot is a wholesome vegetable which consists of a large amount of calcium, potassium and vitamin A. Vitamin A and Calcium helps in the development of the baby.
Beetroot and Potato Puree Ingredients:
- 1 Beetroot
- 1 Potato
- Herb mix (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi) , (8 months and above)
- 1/4 teaspoon Cumin powder , (8 months and above)
Instructions to make Beetroot and Potato Puree:
Be sure to sterilize all the utensils needed for making the puree by boiling them in hot water.
To start with the puree wash the vegetables thoroughly under cold water, peel the skin and dice them. Put the vegetables in a pressure cooker, add 4 Tbs water and cook till 2 or 3 whistles. Simmer for 5 minutes and remove the cooker from the fire.
Open the cooker after the gas is released naturally. Take the vegetables out and cool it for 5 minutes then blend it in a food processor. Add little water to get a desired consistency. Add a pinch of salt and its ready to serve.
If the baby is 8 months of older, you can try putting turmeric powder and cumin powder for some flavor. While it is always advisable to feed your baby fresh food, the left over puree can be kept in the freezer for up to 3 days and can be thawed overnight to use it again.
