Sooji (semolina) Porridge

Semolina is a healthy treat for your baby as it keeps a baby full for a long period of time.  It is full of phosphorus, zinc and magnesium which is very important to maintain a good nervous system.  It also increases the bone density which is essential for your growing baby soon to be learning to walk.

Note:  If you feel your baby might be allergic to gluten keep it away from semolina (sooji)


  • Sooji – 1 cup
  • Water – 3 cup
  • Elachi powder – 1 pinch
  • Ghee – 2 teaspoon

How to make Vegetable Oats Porridge

Start with dry roasting the sooji on an iron tawa.

Heat 3 cups of water in a pan and let it boil, now add the roasted sooji into the boiling water.  Mix it well to avoid lumps.

Add the ghee once the sooji is half cooked. Cook till it’s completely cooked and remove from the flame.  Add a pinch of elachi powder for that special aroma which your baby may enjoy!

To sweeten it you can add some apple puree. If your child is above one years, then you can also add honey to sweeten it.
