Summers are upon us and it only means one thing!! Mangoes!!! The only thing bearable about Indian summers is that the markets are flooded with yummy mangoes.
Mango shakes and cakes are quite popular with everyone in my family but, this time I wanted to try something new and unique so thought writing an article on how to make mango jelly at home.
Mangoes are very healthy – and delicious! Loaded with fiber, pectin and vitamin C. Vitamin C boosts the immune system and keeps you healthy and strong. A recent research shows that the antioxidant present in mango provides protecting against cancer. Do you really need any more reasons to enjoy this fruit during summers!!
Aamras is again a very popular drink during summer. Indians, especially my mother had this misconception that mangoes make you fat. It’s not mangoes that are the culprit, but the huge amounts of sugar that is added to drinks like aamras.
Readymade jellies are available are full of artificial colors and preservatives, and being a natural parent I don’t prefer them. Think about it? Do you really want a hyper active kid on a sugar rush cooped in at home during summer vacations? Processed food has lasting impact on our kids health which we are only beginning to realize. It may not be possible to avoid at all times – begin by avoiding when you can.
Kids are quite fond of fruit jellies so make this at home, and it will be a hit! You can also make this quick and easy jelly with the help of your kids. Involving kids in the meal preparation makes them appreciate the ingredients and they will eat better!
This recipe is very simple and easy to follow and delicious at the same time. You can serve as a desert or even during your kiddos play date or birthday party.

How To Make Mango Jelly at Home with nutrition:
If you’re using all natural ingredients like veg gelatin and fresh mango pulp you’re good! Avoid preserved mango pulp. Instead of adding sugar, stick to organic jaggery – you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Fresh orange juice over packed version will always be healthier.
Ingredients to prepare Mango Jelly at Home
- 2 -3 fully ripe mangoes
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 4 tablespoon of Organic Jaggery powder
- 1 cup orange juice
- 3 teaspoons of gelatin powder
Mango Jelly Preparation method at
- Wash, peel and chop the mangoes roughly and remove the seed. Now, blend the mangoes cubes into smooth paste using a blender.
- To this paste add the lemon juice.
- Soak the gelatin in water for 4-6 minutes. You can also use warm water to speed up the process.
- Take jaggery powder and orange juice into a pan and mix will and heat until the jaggery is completely dissolved. You can also add more jaggery as per your choice.
- Remove excess water from the gelatin and add this to the orange juice and jaggery mixture.
- Allow the gelatin to dissolve well and gently stir the mixture.
- Add the mango paste to this liquids and mix evenly.
- Transfer this liquid into a silicon jelly mold of your choice or into a serving bowl.
- Add some roughly chopped mango piece into the mold and then add this liquid. Kids will enjoy eating the pulp . You can replace the pulp with any dry fruit of your choice. You also can completely skip this step.
- Refrigerate the mold for around 12-14 hours.
- Serve with homemade ice cream.
