Apple Ragi porridge

Apples, organic apples are a power house of nutrition. Today one has to be very careful when choosing apples, as they are among EWG’s “dirty dozen” fruits that are most sprayed with pesticides.

Buy organic whenever possible. If it’s not possible to buy organic thoroughly wash the apples in filtered water. Using a little bit of water and vinegar ensures that it removes most of the pesticides on the skin of the apples. I always peel the apples before offering to my toddler.

One medium apple contains vitamin A, folate and vitamin E.  It is very rich in minerals like potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and selenium. One of the major fibers in apples is Pectin. It is a soluble fiber which helps in digesting food and treating diarrhea.  There are other countless benefits of apples which we can talk about later if required by you all.

Ingredients

How to make Apple Ragi Porridge For Babies

Be sure to sterilize all the utensils needed for making the puree by boiling them in hot water.

Wash the apple under cold water and chop into small pieces. Add half a cup of water in a pan and put the apples in the water and allow to boil completely. This can also be done in a pressure cooker. Once cooled, blend and keep aside.

Take another pan and add water and ragi flour and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on low heat.  Keep stirring it to avoid lumps in the mixture.  Remove from heat and add the apple puree in it.

You can add the cinnamon if you are using some. Let cool and serve it to your little one.
