Moong Dal and Rice Porridge

Moong dal is a great source of vitamins, minerals, and protein, it is easy to digest, protects and heals liver and is a good immune system stimulant. It is loaded with vitamin C, A, K, E, B-6. It also contains minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous, zinc and sodium. The presence of vitamins and minerals is what makes moong dal a great food for babies.

Once the baby is 6 months old it needs a lot more than just milk to grow into a healthy toddler.  Many pediatrician recommend grains like wheat, oats, ragi, sabudana (Sago) etc for the babies in forms of porridge.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup parboiled Rice
  • half cup  Moong da(split yellow variety)
  • ¼ tsp carom seeds

How to make Moong Dal and Rice Porridge For Babies

Be sure to sterilize all the utensils needed for making the puree by boiling them in hot water.

Wash rice and drain the water well. Dry it well in the shade/sun.

Take the rice and dal and dry roast it separately. Let it cool.  Dry roast Carmon seeds for about 2 to 3 seconds.

Take the roasted ingredients and blend them finely in a blender.  You can keep this mixture for a long time and use it when required.  Just mix it with warm water and its ready to serve. No need to add salt or sugar into the porridge.
