Baked Sweet Potato Fingers

  • 5 medium sized sweet potatoes.
  • 2 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon white pepper powder (You can also use black pepper powder)
  • ¼ garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tablespoon white sesame seeds
  • Salt to taste
  1. Preheat the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Meanwhile, peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into ¼-inch long slices and then ¼-wide inch strips. Try to cut them into even size. This will bake the sweet potatoes fingers evenly.
  3. Take a large bowl and add the cut sweet potatoes into it add the 2 tablespoons of olive oil and coat the sweet potatoes fingers well.
  4. Add the Italian seasoning, white pepper powder, garlic powder and salt to taste. Mix well, so that the spices are equally distributed.
  5. If using cornflakes, then roll them in cornflakes evenly.
  6. Take the baking tray and cover it with another baking sheet. Avoid using the parchment paper,as it can burn in the oven.
  7. Arrange the spice marinated sweet potato fingers evenly without overcrowding otherwise, they will not get crispy.
  8. Bake it for 15 minutes and then flip the sweet potato fingers, this will make sure all the sides are cooked evenly.
  9. You can use a spatula.Once baked you will see the sweet potato fingers with shiny orange and puffy texture. It is very important to bake them for long to get the crispy texture.
  10. If you find the edges little brown, don't worry it will give a caramelized taste not burnt.Sprinkle sesame seeds on baked sweet potato fingers and serve it with yogurt dip.
